Objective

Materials and Prep

  • Picture books about Thanksgiving
  • Construction paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Prior to the lesson, familiarize yourself with the story of the first Thanksgiving and gather the necessary materials.

Activities

  1. Read a Thanksgiving-themed picture book together. Discuss the story and ask questions to ensure comprehension.
  2. Ask the student to draw and cut out pictures of things they are thankful for on the construction paper.
  3. Have the student share their drawings and explain why they are thankful for each item.
  4. Help the student glue their drawings onto a larger piece of construction paper to create a Thanksgiving collage.
  5. Display the collage in a prominent place as a reminder of gratitude.
