Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to improve your spelling and vocabulary skills through fun activities.
Materials and Prep
- Alphabet flashcards
- Blank paper and crayons/markers
- Small objects or toys with different names
Before starting the lesson, make sure you are familiar with the alphabet and can recognize letters.
Activities
-
Alphabet Hunt: Hide the alphabet flashcards around the room. Search for them and try to identify each letter as you find them. Practice saying the letter's name and the sound it makes.
-
Spell It Out: Choose a simple word from your vocabulary and write each letter on separate pieces of paper. Mix them up and then try to arrange the letters in the correct order to spell the word. Use the alphabet flashcards as a reference if needed.
-
Object Match: Gather a few small objects or toys with different names. Place them in a row and say the name of each object. Ask your child to match the object with its corresponding name by pointing to the correct flashcard or written word.
-
Draw and Spell: Think of a word and ask your child to draw a picture representing that word. Then, help them write the word below the picture. Encourage them to sound out the word and write each letter they hear.
