By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and apply library skills related to Language Arts, while exploring your interest in football.
Materials and Prep
- Books about football (fiction and non-fiction)
- Writing materials (paper, pencils, crayons)
- Access to a library or online library resources
Activities
-
Explore Football Books:
Visit your local library or search online library resources to find books about football. Choose a few books that interest you, both fiction and non-fiction. Spend some time flipping through the pages, looking at the pictures, and reading any text that catches your attention.
-
Create a Football Story:
Using the inspiration from the football books you explored, create your own football story. Think about the characters, setting, and plot. Use your writing materials to write and illustrate your story. You can even include some football-related vocabulary words you learned from the books.
-
Practice Alphabet Order:
Choose a football-related word from your story and write it down. Then, write down the letters of the word on separate pieces of paper. Mix up the letters and challenge yourself to put them back in the correct order. This activity will help you practice alphabet order, an important skill for finding books in the library.
