Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and describe different types of trains, develop reading comprehension skills through a train-themed story, and practice fine motor skills through a train craft activity.

Materials and Prep

  • Train-themed picture book
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers or crayons
  • Train stickers (optional)

Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with the train-themed picture book and gather all the materials needed for the craft activity.

Activities

  1. Read Aloud: Start the lesson by reading a train-themed picture book to the toddler. Encourage them to pay attention to the illustrations and listen to the story.
  2. Craft Time: After reading the book, guide the toddler in creating a train craft using construction paper, scissors, glue, and markers or crayons. Help them cut out train shapes from the construction paper and decorate them. They can also use train stickers if available.
