Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to understand basic arithmetic concepts through fun activities related to planes.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Paper, markers, toy planes

Prep: None

Activities

1. Draw and color planes on paper, then count them together.

2. Use toy planes to demonstrate addition and subtraction by "flying" them to different destinations.

3. Create a simple "plane parking lot" with numbered spaces and have the toddler park a corresponding number of toy planes.

Toddler Grade Talking Points

  • "Planes can fly high in the sky! Let's draw and color some planes on our paper."
  • "Now, let's count how many planes we have. 1, 2, 3... Great job!"
  • "Let's pretend our toy planes are flying to different places. If we have 2 planes and 3 more join, how many do we have in total?"
  • "Now, let's park our toy planes in the parking lot. Can you put 4 planes in the space with the number 4?"
