Activities

Research and Vocabulary
Have the student research and find at least five key vocabulary words related to ancient war battles. They should write down the words and their definitions on a piece of paper.

Grammar Connection
Using the vocabulary words they researched, have the student create sentences that demonstrate their understanding of different grammar concepts. For example, they can use one vocabulary word in a sentence that demonstrates subject-verb agreement, another word in a sentence that demonstrates proper use of pronouns, and so on.

Ask the student to imagine they are a soldier in an ancient war battle. Have them write a short story, including dialogue, that describes their experience. Encourage them to use different verb tenses, such as past, present, and future, to add depth to their story.
