Fourth Grade Talking Points

  • Reptiles are cold-blooded animals, which means they rely on the environment to regulate their body temperature. You can say, "Reptiles are like little sunbathers. They need to find warm spots to heat up their bodies."
  • Reptiles have scales or scaly skin that helps protect their bodies. You can say, "Imagine if we had tough, scaly skin like a reptile. It would be like having a built-in shield to protect us."
  • Many reptiles lay eggs to reproduce, and some give birth to live young. You can say, "Just like birds, reptiles also lay eggs. It's like having a surprise package waiting to hatch!"
  • Reptiles play an important role in the food chain and help control insect populations. You can say, "Reptiles are like nature's pest control. They help keep the bug population in check."
