Activities

1. Draw different roadblock shapes such as squares, rectangles, and triangles on the paper.

2. Identify and label the number of sides and corners of each shape.

3. Create a roadblock pattern using the shapes and discuss the repeating pattern.

First Grade Talking Points

  • "A square has 4 equal sides and 4 corners. It looks like a box or a roadblock."
  • "A rectangle has 4 sides, but the opposite sides are different lengths. It can also be a roadblock shape."
  • "A triangle has 3 sides and 3 corners. It can be used as a roadblock too."
