Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe different types of herbs and their uses, as well as the basic principles of herbology.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Various fresh or dried herbs (e.g. basil, mint, rosemary), magnifying glass, notebook, pencils.

Prep: Familiarize yourself with the different types of herbs and their uses. Set up a space for examining the herbs with the magnifying glass.

Activities

1. Herb Identification: Show the student the different herbs and ask them to observe and describe the appearance, smell, and texture of each herb using the magnifying glass.

2. Herb Uses: Discuss the common uses of each herb, such as culinary, medicinal, or aromatic purposes. Encourage the student to take notes on the uses of each herb.

3. Herbology Principles: Explain the basic principles of herbology, such as the importance of different plant parts (leaves, stems, roots) and the concept of photosynthesis. Encourage the student to ask questions and engage in a discussion about herbology.
