Objective

By the end of this lesson, the preschool student will be able to demonstrate basic dance movements and understand the importance of physical activity for health and fitness.

Materials and Prep

  • Open space for dancing
  • Upbeat music
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Water bottle

No prior knowledge or experience needed. Just be ready to have fun and move your body!

Activities

  • Warm-up: Start by playing some lively music and encourage the student to move freely to the beat. Emphasize the importance of warming up the body before physical activity.

  • Basic Dance Moves: Teach simple dance steps such as marching, jumping, spinning, and clapping. Encourage the student to follow along and express themselves through movement.

  • Free Dance: Let the student dance freely to their favorite music, allowing them to explore different movements and rhythms.

  • Cool Down: Slow the music down and guide the student through gentle stretches and deep breaths to cool down the body.
