First Grade Talking Points
- Thanksgiving is a special holiday when we give thanks for the things we have. It's a time for families and friends to come together and share a meal. We can also have fun with math by using Thanksgiving items to solve problems.
- "Let's count the number of turkeys we have. How many turkeys do we see?"
- "Now, if we add the number of pumpkins to the number of turkeys, how many Thanksgiving items do we have in total?"
- "Imagine we have some delicious pies for Thanksgiving. If we eat some of the pies, how many pies are left?"
- "Let's draw a Thanksgiving scene with some pilgrim hats and cornucopias. How many items are there in total?"
