Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a persuasive argument for getting a pet, using appropriate language and reasoning skills.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Pen or pencil, paper

Preparation: None

Activities

  • Brainstorm: Have the student brainstorm reasons why they want a pet and why it would be beneficial. Encourage them to think about the responsibilities and joys of having a pet.

  • Organize Ideas: Help the student organize their thoughts into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Discuss the importance of using persuasive language and providing evidence to support their arguments.

  • Write: Have the student write their persuasive argument, focusing on clear and convincing language. Encourage them to use examples and personal experiences to strengthen their points.
