Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and apply basic arithmetic operations in a fun and interactive way related to Assasin’s Creed.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Paper, pencil, and a computer or tablet with access to the game Assasin’s Creed.

Prep: Make sure to have the game Assasin’s Creed installed and ready to play.

Activities

1. Assassins’ Arithmetic: Use the in-game currency in Assasin’s Creed to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. For example, if you have 50 coins and you spend 20, how many do you have left?

2. Historical Math Quest: Research the historical setting of Assasin’s Creed and create math problems related to that time period. For example, if the game is set in the year 1500, create a multiplication problem using that year.

3. Virtual Math Challenge: Play Assasin’s Creed and keep track of the numbers you encounter in the game, such as the number of enemies defeated, distance traveled, or items collected. Use these numbers to create math problems to solve.

Third Grade Talking Points

  • "We can learn about history and math by creating problems related to the time period in the game, like multiplication or division with the year 1500."
  • "By playing the game and keeping track of the numbers, we can create math problems about the distance traveled, enemies defeated, or items collected."
