Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create a simple story and illustrate it with drawings, promoting language arts and creativity.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Paper, crayons/markers, and a comfortable space for storytelling.

Prep: None, just ensure a safe and open area for physical activities.

Activities

1. Draw and Tell: Have the student draw a picture of their favorite activity (e.g., playing tag, riding bikes) and then tell a short story about it.

2. Story Circle: Sit in a circle and take turns creating a collaborative story, with each person adding a sentence or two. Encourage the use of imagination and creativity.

3. Jump and Rhyme: While jumping on the trampoline, create simple rhymes or chants related to the student's favorite activities.

  • "We can use our drawings to tell stories. What is your favorite thing to draw?"
  • "When we play with friends, we can make up fun stories together. What story would you like to create with your friends?"
  • "Jumping and playing can inspire us to make up silly rhymes. Can you think of a rhyme about riding bikes?"
