Materials and Prep
- Picture books about fall
- Flashcards with fall-related words
- Markers or crayons
- Construction paper
Activities
-
Read a fall-themed picture book together. Discuss the illustrations and ask questions about the story. Encourage the student to make connections to their own experiences with fall.
-
Introduce the flashcards with fall-related words. Practice saying the words together and encourage the student to repeat after you.
-
Ask the student to draw a picture of their favorite fall activity or scene on a piece of construction paper. Help them label the drawing using the fall-related words from the flashcards.
-
Review the flashcards again and play a matching game. Lay out the flashcards face down and take turns flipping two cards at a time. If the cards match, say the word aloud. If they don't match, flip them back over and try again.
