- Assorted bills (1 dollar, 5 dollars, 10 dollars)
- Whiteboard or paper and markers
- Money-related word problems (created by the teacher or found online)
No prior knowledge required. The student should have basic counting skills.
Activities
- Show and Tell: Display different coins and bills, and discuss their values with the student. Have the student identify and name each coin and bill.
- Money Math: Create simple word problems involving addition and subtraction of coins and bills. Have the student solve the problems using the actual coins and bills.
- Money Story: Encourage the student to create a short story or comic strip involving a character going on a shopping spree with a specific amount of money. The story should include the items purchased and the change received.
Throughout the activities, emphasize the importance of understanding the value of money and how it relates to everyday life.
