Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to recognize and understand different words and their meanings.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Picture books, flashcards with words, writing materials

Prep: Familiarize yourself with the picture books and flashcards, and prepare a comfortable reading area.

Activities

1. Word Hunt: Hide flashcards with words around the room and encourage the toddler to find and identify them.

2. Storytime: Read a picture book aloud, pointing out and explaining the meaning of different words.

3. Word Writing: Encourage the toddler to practice writing simple words from the flashcards.

  • "Words are all around us. Can you find the word 'cat'?"
  • "When we read, we learn new words. Let's read this book and find new words together."
  • "Now it's your turn to write the word 'dog'. Great job!"
