Introduction: Demon Slayer Corps Training! (10 mins)

Welcome, young Demon Slayer recruit! Today, we're embarking on a special mission: diving deep into the world of Demon Slayer through the power of reading! Just like Tanjiro trains to master his breathing techniques, we'll train our reading skills to understand stories better. We'll explore characters, settings, and plots, just like scouting a demon's lair!

Reading Mission: Analyzing the Story (25 mins)

Let's read a short, age-appropriate excerpt or summary from Demon Slayer. As we read, pay close attention like Zenitsu listening for demons!

  1. Character Focus: Who are the main characters in this part of the story? What does Tanjiro want? What challenges does he face? Discuss his bravery and kindness. How are other characters like Nezuko or Inosuke described?
  2. Setting the Scene: Where does this part of the story take place? Is it a dark forest, a busy village, or a training ground? How does the setting make you feel? Does it add danger or excitement?
  3. Plot Unraveling: What are the most important things that happen in this section? Let's list the key events in order, like following steps in a mission.
  4. Word Hunt: Did we find any tricky words? Let's be like Kanao and spot them! We can write them down and try to figure out their meaning from the sentences around them or look them up. (Examples: determination, compassion, technique, demon).

Activity: Character Profile & Prediction (15 mins)

Choose your favorite character from the reading (Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, etc.). In your notebook, draw them (optional) and write a few sentences describing:

  • Their personality (brave, scared, kind, wild).
  • Their main goal or motivation.
  • One challenge they faced in the reading.

Now, based on what we read, what do you predict might happen next? Will Tanjiro face a new demon? Will Zenitsu overcome his fear? Write down your prediction!

Wrap-up: Mission Debrief (5 mins)

Great work, recruit! We successfully analyzed our reading material. What was the most interesting thing you learned about the characters or plot today? Reading helps us understand stories and characters on a deeper level, just like understanding a demon's weakness helps a Slayer win!
