Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and write the letters of the alphabet and create simple words.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: paper, crayons/markers, and a writing surface. Prep: Familiarize yourself with the letters of the alphabet and some simple words to use as examples.
Activities
Letter Recognition: Show the student different letters and ask them to identify each one. Encourage them to trace the letters with their fingers.
Alphabet Art: Have the student choose a letter and draw a picture of something that starts with that letter. For example, "A" for apple.
Word Building: Write simple words on paper and have the student sound out the letters and try to write the words themselves. Start with easy words like "cat" or "dog".
Preschool Grade Talking Points

- "Now, let's draw a picture of an apple. What sound does 'A' make? That's right, 'A' says 'ah' like in apple."
- "Great job! Now, let's try to write the word 'cat'. Can you say the sounds of the letters? C-a-t. Now, try to write it on your paper."
