Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and express different emotions through reading and activities.
Materials and Prep
Materials: Picture books about emotions, paper, crayons, and a mirror.
Prep: Familiarize yourself with the selected picture books and prepare a comfortable reading area.
Activities
1. Read Aloud: Start by reading a picture book about emotions with the student, discussing the characters' feelings and expressions.
2. Draw and Express: Have the student choose an emotion and draw a picture of themselves feeling that emotion. Encourage them to use the mirror to observe their own facial expressions.
3. Emotion Charades: Act out different emotions and have the student guess what emotion is being portrayed. Then switch roles and have the student act out emotions for you to guess.

- "Emotions are the feelings we have inside. Can you show me a happy face?"
- "When we read a story, we can see how the characters feel. How do you think the character feels in this picture?"
- "Let's draw a picture of how we feel today. What color do you think represents happiness?"
