Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to concentrate and focus on writing tasks for an extended period of time.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Blank paper, pencils, erasers

Prep: None

Activities

  • Activity 1: Mindful Breathing - Start the lesson with a short mindfulness exercise, guiding the student to take deep breaths and focus on their breathing for a few minutes to clear their mind and prepare for writing.

  • Activity 2: Creative Writing Prompt - Provide a fun and engaging writing prompt related to the student's interests, such as "Imagine you are a superhero. What powers would you have and how would you use them?" Encourage the student to write a story or draw a picture related to the prompt.

  • Activity 3: Silent Writing Time - Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and ask the student to work on writing a short story, poem, or journal entry quietly and independently. Encourage them to stay focused and concentrate on their writing during this time.
