Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify key elements of fairytales and create their own fairytale story.
Materials and Prep
- Blank paper
- Colored pencils or crayons
- Familiar fairytale books
- Access to a computer or tablet for research (if available)
Prior to the lesson, review a few well-known fairytales to use as examples during the activities.
Activities
- Discuss the key elements of fairytales, such as magical creatures, good vs. evil, and happy endings. Use familiar fairytale books to illustrate these elements.
- Brainstorm and create a list of magical creatures and characters that could be in a fairytale story. Encourage the student to use their imagination.
- Guide the student in creating their own fairytale story using the characters and elements they brainstormed. Have them write and illustrate their story on the blank paper.
