By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and read simple Christmas-themed words and sentences.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Christmas-themed picture books, flashcards with Christmas-related words, writing supplies.

Prep: Familiarize yourself with the Christmas-themed books and create flashcards with simple Christmas-related words.

Activities

1. Christmas Word Hunt: Hide the flashcards with Christmas-related words around the room and have the student find and read each word.

2. Storytime: Read a Christmas-themed picture book together and point out and discuss simple words within the story.

3. Word Writing: Have the student practice writing simple Christmas words they've learned, such as "tree", "gift", "Santa", etc.
