Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and understand different types of sentences, and practice basic addition and subtraction.

Materials and Prep

  • Whiteboard or paper
  • Markers or pencils
  • Math flashcards
  • Reading book or story

No prior knowledge required.

Activities

  • Reading Time: Read a short story or book with the student. Discuss the characters, setting, and main events.
  • Sentence Types: Write different types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory) on the whiteboard or paper. Discuss each type and have the student identify them.
  • Math Fun: Use the math flashcards to practice basic addition and subtraction. Make it a game by timing the student to see how many they can answer correctly in a minute.
