Objective

Materials and Prep
- Copy of a short story (e.g. "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe)
- Pen and paper
- Access to a dictionary or online dictionary
- Understanding of basic literary elements (plot, character, setting, theme)
Activities
1. Reading and Annotation: Have the student read the short story and annotate key details, character traits, and important events as they read.
2. Literary Analysis: Guide the student in identifying the plot, characters, setting, and theme of the story. Discuss how these elements contribute to the overall meaning and impact of the story.
3. Personal Connection: Encourage the student to relate the story to their own experiences or other stories they have read. Have them write a short reflection on the connections they made.
