By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to understand the importance of environmental conservation during the Christmas season.
Materials and Prep

- Tape or glue
- Markers or crayons
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Create Christmas Ornaments from Recyclable Materials
- Go on a Nature Walk to Collect Natural Decorations
- Create a Christmas Tree Collage
Explain to the toddler that Christmas is a time of giving and spreading joy, but it's also important to take care of our environment. Show them different recyclable materials and discuss how they can be transformed into beautiful Christmas ornaments. Help the toddler cut, tape or glue the materials together to create unique ornaments. Encourage them to decorate the ornaments using markers or crayons.
Take the toddler on a nature walk around your backyard or a nearby park. Encourage them to look for natural items such as pinecones, leaves, or twigs that can be used as decorations. Talk about how these items come from nature and can be reused instead of buying new decorations.
Using a large piece of paper or cardboard, help the toddler draw the outline of a Christmas tree. Let them use markers or crayons to color the tree. Then, assist them in gluing the collected natural decorations onto the tree, creating a collage. Discuss how this activity helps us appreciate and celebrate nature during Christmas.
