Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to analyze characters and their motivations in The Graveyard Book.

Materials and Prep

  • A copy of The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
  • Paper and pencils

Activities

  1. Character Analysis: Choose a character from The Graveyard Book and write a paragraph describing their personality traits and motivations. Use evidence from the text to support your analysis.

  2. Comparing Characters: Select two characters from the book and create a Venn diagram to compare and contrast their traits, motivations, and actions. Write a short paragraph explaining the similarities and differences you discovered.

  3. Character Interview: Imagine you are interviewing one of the characters from the book. Write a list of questions you would ask them and then write their responses based on what you know about their personality and experiences.
