Objective

The objective of this lesson is to improve spelling skills through a fun and engaging activity related to whippets.

Materials and Prep

Activities

  1. Word Scramble:

    Write down a list of whippet-related words, but scramble the letters within each word. For example, "whippet" could become "tpiwhet". Ask the student to unscramble the words and write down the correct spelling. Provide feedback and discuss any unfamiliar words.

  2. Spelling Bee:

    Choose a few challenging whippet-related words and conduct a spelling bee. Pronounce each word clearly and ask the student to spell it correctly. Offer hints or repeat the word if needed. Keep a score to make it more competitive and engaging.

  3. Word Search:

    Create a word search puzzle using whippet-related words. Provide the student with the word search grid and a list of words to find. Encourage them to locate and circle each word correctly. Discuss the meaning of the words as they find them.
