Materials and Prep

  • Pen or pencil
  • Blank paper or notebook

Before starting the lesson, make sure the student has a basic understanding of sentence structure and parts of speech.

Activities

  1. Activity: Whippet Sentence Challenge

Ask the student to write five sentences using whippets as the subject. Encourage them to include different verb tenses and sentence structures. After writing the sentences, have the student share them with you and discuss any grammar errors or improvements that can be made.

  2. Activity: Parts of Speech Whippet Hunt

Provide the student with a list of 10 sentences, some of which include whippets. Ask the student to identify the parts of speech for each word in the sentences, focusing on the whippet-related words. Have them underline or highlight the whippet-related words and label their parts of speech.

  3. Activity: Whippet Grammar Challenge

Give the student a set of grammar rules related to sentence structure, verb agreement, or pronoun usage. Ask them to create a mini poster or infographic that explains the rule using whippets as examples. Encourage them to be creative and visually appealing in their design.
