  • Printed or digital copy of a whippet-related article or short story
  • Pen or pencil

Activities

  1. Start by discussing what the student already knows about whippets. Ask questions like:

    • What do you already know about them?
  2. Introduce the whippet-related text to the student. Explain that they will be reading it and answering questions to test their comprehension.

  3. Give the student time to read the text independently. Encourage them to underline or highlight important information as they go.

  4. After reading, ask the student a series of comprehension questions about the text. For example:

    • What is the main idea of the text?
    • What are some key details about whippets mentioned in the text?
    • Why do you think people find whippets interesting?
  5. Discuss the student's answers and provide feedback. Encourage them to support their responses with evidence from the text.

  6. As a follow-up activity, ask the student to write a short paragraph summarizing the main points of the text. Remind them to use their own words and include supporting details.
