Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to analyze and comprehend the text of Super Mario Bros. 3, and make connections between the story and their own experiences.
Materials and Prep
- A copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 (can be a physical copy or an online version)
- Paper and pencil
- Access to a computer or tablet for research (optional)
Activities
- Introduce Super Mario Bros. 3: Explain to the student that they will be reading and analyzing a text based on their interest in the game. Show them the cover of the game and ask them what they already know about it.
- Reading Comprehension: Have the student read a chapter or a section of Super Mario Bros. 3. Encourage them to underline or highlight any unfamiliar words or phrases.
- Vocabulary Exploration: Ask the student to choose one of the unfamiliar words or phrases they identified and look up its meaning. Have them write down the word, its definition, and use it in a sentence.
