Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and locate the state of Indiana on a map of the United States.

Materials and Prep

  • A map of the United States
  • A smaller map of Indiana
  • A globe (optional)

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Show the student the map of the United States and point out the general location of Indiana.
  2. Ask the student to locate Indiana on the map.
  3. Show the student the smaller map of Indiana and discuss its shape and borders.
  4. Ask the student to trace the outline of Indiana on the smaller map.
  5. (Optional) If you have a globe, show the student where Indiana is located on it.
