Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore outdoor education concepts using Legos, enhancing their creativity, problem-solving skills, and understanding of the natural world.
Materials and Prep
- Legos (various sizes and colors)
- Outdoor space (backyard, park, or any safe outdoor area)
- Printed pictures or drawings of nature elements (trees, animals, flowers, etc.)
Prior knowledge: Basic understanding of Legos and their building techniques.
Activities
- Outdoor Exploration: Take the Legos outside and encourage the student to observe the natural environment. Ask them to find inspiration in the surroundings, such as trees, flowers, or animals.
- Nature Lego Creations: Using the Legos, have the student create their own nature-inspired Lego structures. They can build trees, flowers, animals, or anything they find interesting in the outdoor environment.
- Storytelling: Once the student has built their Lego creations, ask them to create a story or scenario involving their Lego characters and nature elements. Encourage them to use their imagination and creativity.
- Show and Tell: After completing their Lego creations and storytelling, have the student present their work to you or any family members. They can explain their designs, the story behind them, and what they learned from the outdoor exploration.
