Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to enhance their language arts skills through reading activities using playdough.

Materials and Prep

  • Playdough in various colors
  • Letter-shaped cookie cutters (optional)
  • Alphabet flashcards (optional)
  • Writing utensil and paper

Activities

  1. Playdough Letter Matching:

    Roll out the playdough and shape it into various letters of the alphabet. Encourage the student to identify the letters and match them to corresponding flashcards or written letters.

  2. Playdough Letter Tracing:

    Using their finger or a writing utensil, have the student trace the letters made out of playdough. This activity helps them practice letter formation and recognition.

  3. Playdough Sight Word Creation:

    Write a few simple sight words on a piece of paper. Have the student use playdough to create the letters of each word. They can roll, shape, and mold the playdough to form the letters.
