Objective
By the end of this lesson, the Pre-Kindergarten student will be able to identify different types of cars and understand their functions.
Materials and Prep
- Toy cars (various types)
- Large piece of paper or whiteboard
- Markers or crayons
- Printed pictures of different types of cars
Prior to the lesson, gather the materials and print out pictures of different cars.
Activities
- Introduction: Show the printed pictures of different cars to the student and ask them if they know the names of any of the cars.
- Car Identification: Place the toy cars in front of the student and ask them to identify each car by its name. Encourage them to describe the features of each car.
- Car Drawing: Give the student a large piece of paper or whiteboard and ask them to draw their favorite car using markers or crayons. Encourage creativity and imagination.
- Car Functions: Discuss the different functions of cars with the student. Explain that cars can be used for transportation, carrying people and goods from one place to another.
- Car Sorting: Ask the student to sort the toy cars into different categories based on their features, such as color, size, or type of car (e.g. sports car, truck, sedan, etc.).
