Objective

By the end of this lesson, the Pre-Kindergarten student will be able to identify different types of cars and understand their functions.

Materials and Prep

  • Toy cars (various types)
  • Large piece of paper or whiteboard
  • Markers or crayons
  • Printed pictures of different types of cars

Prior to the lesson, gather the materials and print out pictures of different cars.

Activities

  1. Introduction: Show the printed pictures of different cars to the student and ask them if they know the names of any of the cars.
  2. Car Identification: Place the toy cars in front of the student and ask them to identify each car by its name. Encourage them to describe the features of each car.
  3. Car Drawing: Give the student a large piece of paper or whiteboard and ask them to draw their favorite car using markers or crayons. Encourage creativity and imagination.
  4. Car Functions: Discuss the different functions of cars with the student. Explain that cars can be used for transportation, carrying people and goods from one place to another.
  5. Car Sorting: Ask the student to sort the toy cars into different categories based on their features, such as color, size, or type of car (e.g. sports car, truck, sedan, etc.).
