Activities
- Research: Have the student use the internet to research the three branches of the U.S. government - executive, legislative, and judicial. They should take notes on the responsibilities and powers of each branch.
- Discussion: Engage in a conversation about how pet sitting could relate to each branch of government. For example, the executive branch might be responsible for enforcing laws related to pet care, the legislative branch could create laws to protect animals, and the judicial branch could handle any legal disputes related to pet sitting.
- Role Play: Divide the student into three groups, each representing one branch of government. Have them come up with a scenario related to pet sitting and act it out, demonstrating how their branch would handle the situation.
- Reflection: After the role play, ask the student to reflect on the importance of government and citizenship in everyday activities like pet sitting. Discuss how laws and regulations help ensure the well-being of animals and the responsibilities of pet owners.
