Objective

By the end of this lesson, the Grade 6 homeschool student will have a better understanding of pet sitting and the responsibilities involved.

Materials and Prep

• Pen or pencil
• Paper or notebook
• Access to the internet or books about pet care
• Optional: A toy or stuffed animal to practice pet care skills

Activities

1. Research and Take Notes

   Using the internet or books, research different types of pets that people commonly have and may need pet sitters for. Take notes on the basic care requirements for each type of pet.

2. Create a Pet Sitting Guide

   Based on your research and notes, create a pet sitting guide that includes important information about caring for different types of pets. Include sections on feeding, exercise, grooming, and any other specific needs for each type of pet.

3. Practice Pet Care Skills

   Using a toy or stuffed animal, practice some of the pet care skills mentioned in your pet sitting guide. This can include feeding, grooming, and playing with the "pet".

4. Design a Pet Sitting Flyer

   Create a flyer advertising your pet sitting services. Include your name, contact information, the types of pets you can care for, and any special skills or qualifications you have. Use your creativity to make the flyer visually appealing.
