Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand a short story about riding a bike.

Materials and Prep

  • A picture book about riding a bike
  • A bike or a picture of a bike
  • A helmet
  • A whiteboard or a large piece of paper
  • Markers or crayons

Activities

  1. Read the picture book about riding a bike together. Talk about the different parts of a bike and how to ride it safely.
  2. Show the bike or the picture of a bike to the student. Discuss the colors, shapes, and features of the bike.
  3. Put on the helmet and pretend to go on a bike ride. Encourage the student to describe the imaginary scenery and what they see along the way.
  4. Draw a simple picture of a bike on the whiteboard or paper. Ask the student to identify and name the different parts of the bike, such as wheels, handlebars, and pedals.
  5. Encourage the student to draw their own picture of a bike. Help them label the different parts if they are able to.
