Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to appreciate and create visual art inspired by Pokemon.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper or sketchbook
  • Pencils, erasers, and colored pencils
  • Reference images of Pokemon characters

No prior knowledge or experience required.

Activities

  • Pokemon Character Study: Choose a favorite Pokemon character and spend some time observing its features, colors, and overall design. Sketch the character in your sketchbook, paying attention to the details.
  • Pokemon Mash-up: Select two or more Pokemon characters and create a new creature by combining their features. Use your imagination and draw the hybrid Pokemon in action.
  • Pokemon Landscape: Imagine a Pokemon world and draw a landscape that represents it. Include elements like forests, mountains, rivers, and of course, Pokemon. Use colored pencils to bring your landscape to life.
  • Pokemon Self-Portrait: Transform yourself into a Pokemon character. Think about what type of Pokemon you would be and how you would look. Draw a self-portrait as a Pokemon, showcasing your unique abilities and characteristics.

  • Pokemon as Art: Art can be inspired by anything we find interesting or meaningful. Pokemon, with its vibrant characters and imaginative world, can be a great source of inspiration for artists.
