Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore emotional attunement through practical arts activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencils
  • Coloring materials (crayons, markers, colored pencils)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Magazines or printed images
  • Access to a computer or tablet with internet
  • Optional: Paint and paintbrushes

Activities

  1. Create an Emotion Collage:

    • Think about different emotions you have experienced.
    • Look for images in magazines or print them from the internet that represent those emotions.
    • Cut out the images and arrange them on a piece of paper.
    • Glue the images onto the paper to create your emotion collage.
  2. Draw and Color Emotion Portraits:

    • Choose an emotion you want to focus on.
    • Draw a self-portrait or a portrait of someone else expressing that emotion.
    • Use colors that you feel represent that emotion.
  3. Create an Emotion Painting:

    • Using paint and brushes, create a painting that represents a specific emotion.
    • Think about how colors, shapes, and brushstrokes can convey different emotions.
    • Experiment with different techniques to express the chosen emotion in your painting.
