Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the concept of a waterpark and engage in physical activities related to waterpark fun.
Materials and Prep
- Access to a safe outdoor space with water access (e.g., a backyard pool, sprinkler, or water hose)
- Swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen
- Water toys or inflatables (optional)
Activities
- Water Limbo: Set up a water hose or sprinkler to create a stream of water. The student will take turns bending backward and passing under the water stream without getting wet.
- Water Balloon Toss: Fill water balloons and have a partner stand a short distance away. Take turns tossing the water balloon back and forth, trying not to let it burst.
- Slip 'n Slide: Create a DIY slip 'n slide using a tarp or plastic sheet and water. The student can slide down the slippery surface and try to slide the farthest.
- Water Relay Race: Set up a relay race course with buckets of water at one end and empty buckets at the other. Divide into teams and use cups or sponges to transfer water from one bucket to the other, racing against the other team.
