Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a better understanding of staying in a lodge out of state and be able to plan a fun trip.

Materials and Prep

  • Pen and paper
  • Access to a computer or books about lodges
  • Map of the United States

Prior knowledge required: Basic understanding of different states in the United States.

Activities

  • Research: Encourage the student to research different lodges in states they are interested in visiting. They can use books or the internet to find information about the lodges, including amenities, activities, and nearby attractions.
  • Map Exploration: Have the student locate the states they are interested in visiting on a map of the United States. Discuss the distance between their current location and the chosen states, and the different regions they would be traveling through.
  • Budgeting: Help the student create a budget for their lodge stay. Discuss the costs of accommodation, transportation, meals, and any additional activities they would like to do during their trip.
  • Packing List: Assist the student in creating a packing list for their lodge stay. Discuss the different types of clothing and items they may need, considering the weather and activities at the lodge.
  • Itinerary Planning: Guide the student in creating a daily itinerary for their lodge stay. Discuss the activities they would like to do each day, including any specific attractions or events they want to visit.
  • Journaling: Encourage the student to keep a travel journal during their lodge stay. Discuss the importance of documenting their experiences and memories, and provide prompts for daily journal entries.
