Objective

Activities

    Discuss the purpose of each section in the pattern (e.g., materials needed, gauge, abbreviations, stitch instructions, etc.).

    Highlight or color code important information in the pattern to make it easier to follow.

  2. Select a simple sewing project and find corresponding instructions. Read through the instructions, identifying any challenging vocabulary or steps.

    Discuss the importance of understanding the sequence of steps and the purpose of each step in the instructions.

    Use a pen or pencil to annotate the instructions by adding notes or questions for clarification.

  3. Compare and contrast the structure and format of the crochet pattern and sewing instructions. Identify similarities and differences in terms of organization, vocabulary, and clarity.

    Discuss the importance of clear communication in both crochet patterns and sewing instructions.

    Identify strategies for approaching unfamiliar terms or instructions in order to enhance reading comprehension and problem-solving skills.
