Talking Points
- Subject-Verb Agreement: "In English grammar, it's important to make sure that the subject and verb in a sentence agree in number. For example, if the subject is singular, the verb should be singular as well. Can you think of any examples from the interstellar movie where subject-verb agreement is important?"
- Punctuation: "Punctuation marks like commas, periods, and quotation marks help us make sense of written language. Can you find any instances in the movie where punctuation marks could change the meaning of a sentence?"
- Dialogue Tags: "When writing dialogue, we use dialogue tags to identify who is speaking. Can you identify any dialogue tags used in the interstellar movie? How do they help us understand the conversation?"
- Types of Sentences: "Sentences can be classified into four types - declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory. Can you give me examples of each type from the interstellar movie?"
- Using Descriptive Language: "In order to paint a vivid picture in the reader's mind, writers often use descriptive language. Can you find any examples of descriptive language used in the interstellar movie? How does it enhance the storytelling?"
