Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to have fun while learning about language and improve their language skills.
Materials and Prep
- No materials are required for this lesson.
- Make sure the student is in a comfortable learning environment.
Activities
Play "I Spy" with the student. Take turns choosing an object in the room and describe it using language. The other person has to guess the object based on the description.
Encourage the student to create a story. Provide them with a prompt or a few starting sentences, and let their imagination run wild. Help them with any difficult words or concepts they encounter.
Have a conversation with the student about their favorite things. Ask them questions like "What is your favorite color?" or "What is your favorite animal?" and encourage them to respond using complete sentences.
Introduce the student to rhyming words. Give them a word and see if they can come up with other words that rhyme with it. For example, if the word is "cat," they could say "hat," "mat," or "bat."
Engage the student in a game of "Simon Says." Use language commands such as "Simon says touch your nose" or "Simon says clap your hands." This will help them practice following instructions and improve their listening skills.
