Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to match objects based on their similarities.
Materials and Prep
- A variety of objects (e.g., toy animals, colored blocks, household items)
- A large tray or table to display the objects
- No prior knowledge or preparation required
Activities
Activity 1: Sorting by Color
Place a set of colored blocks on the tray and ask the student to sort them by color. Encourage them to match blocks of the same color together.
Activity 2: Matching Animals
Show the student a set of toy animals and ask them to match animals that are the same. For example, they can match two dogs, two cats, etc.
Activity 3: Household Item Match
Gather a few common household items (e.g., spoon, cup, brush) and place them on the tray. Ask the student to match objects that serve a similar purpose, such as matching the spoon and the fork.

- "Now, let's play a game of matching animals! Look at these toy animals. Can you find animals that look the same and put them together?"
- "Finally, we will match household items that serve similar purposes. Can you find objects that are used for eating, like a spoon and a fork?"
