Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and use basic French vocabulary related to frogs, as well as engage in simple conversations about frogs in French.
Materials and Prep
- Pen and paper
- Access to a computer or smartphone for online research (optional)
Activities
-
Start by discussing with the student their interest in frogs and why they find them fascinating. Encourage them to share any prior knowledge they have about frogs in English.
-
Introduce the student to basic French vocabulary related to frogs. Teach them words such as "grenouille" (frog), "têtard" (tadpole), "mare" (pond), and "nénuphar" (water lily). Write down these words and their English translations on a piece of paper.
-
Engage the student in a conversation about frogs in French. Ask them questions such as "Qu'est-ce que tu sais sur les grenouilles?" (What do you know about frogs?) and encourage them to respond using the vocabulary they have learned.
-
Encourage the student to do some online research (if possible) or use books to find interesting facts about frogs in French. Have them write down at least three new facts they discover.
-
Ask the student to create a mini presentation in French about frogs. They can use the vocabulary and facts they have learned to talk about different species of frogs, their habitats, and interesting behaviors. Provide guidance and support as needed.
