Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create toys in ice using simple materials.
Materials and Prep
- Water
- Ice cube trays or small plastic containers
- Small toys or objects (e.g., plastic animals, small figurines)
- String or yarn
- Freezer
Make sure you have a clear space in your freezer to freeze the toys in ice.
Activities
- Choose a few small toys or objects that you would like to freeze in ice.
- Fill the ice cube trays or small plastic containers with water.
- Place one toy or object in each compartment of the ice cube tray or container.
- Insert a small piece of string or yarn into each compartment, leaving one end sticking out. This will be used to hang the ice toys later.
- Place the ice cube trays or containers in the freezer and let them freeze completely.
- Once the ice is frozen, carefully remove the ice cubes from the trays or containers.
- Hang the ice toys outside or in a safe area where they can melt without making a mess.
- Observe and document the melting process of the ice toys. How long does it take for them to completely melt?
