Materials and Prep
- Blank paper
- Coloring materials (crayons, markers, colored pencils)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Old magazines or newspapers
- Optional: Art books or prints for reference
Activities
- Create a Collage: Provide the student with old magazines or newspapers, scissors, and glue. Encourage them to cut out interesting pictures or shapes and glue them onto a piece of paper to create a collage.
- Color Exploration: Give the student a blank paper and coloring materials. Ask them to experiment with different colors, shading, and mixing to create their own unique artwork.
- Shape Hunt: Take a walk around the house or outside and ask the student to find different shapes in their surroundings. Encourage them to draw or trace these shapes on a piece of paper and color them.
- Art Appreciation: Show the student a few art prints or pictures from art books. Discuss what they see in the artwork, such as colors, shapes, and emotions. Ask them how the artwork makes them feel.
