Objective

The objective of this lesson is to introduce the concept of zoos and their role in environmental conservation to the toddler. The student will learn about different animals found in zoos and understand the importance of protecting their habitats.

Activities

  1. Start by asking the student what they know about zoos. Have a discussion about animals and their habitats.
  2. Introduce the concept of zoos as places where animals are kept and cared for. Show pictures or videos of different animals in zoos.
  3. Using the toy animals, create a mini zoo setup. Encourage the student to identify and name the animals.
  4. Discuss the importance of zoos in protecting endangered species and preserving their habitats.
  5. Ask the student to draw their favorite animal from the zoo and explain why they like it.
  6. Read a book about zoos or animals found in zoos. Discuss interesting facts about different animals.
  7. Optional: If access to the internet or wildlife documentaries is available, show videos of animals in their natural habitats and compare it to their life in zoos.
